Mark - Christ the Servant King

John Mark was the son of Mary, who lived in Jerusalem in whose house the Church met to pray for Peter's release from prison. He was the related to Barnabas a companion of Paul and Barnabas, and of Peter. The book is generally known as Peters Gospel, as Peter was one of the main eye witnesses for this account of the Jesus Life and Ministry. It is said to have been written with Roman believers in mind. It shows us Christ as the tireless Servant of God and man. The key words are Ministry and straightway indicating Christ the servants his immediate action. Mark showing us His human feelings and affections. But also showing Christ divinity by His authority, and superhuman powers in controlling nature, healing the sick, and raising the dead. Mark alone tells us of eleven occasions, how Christ would retire alone to spend time with His Heavenly Father in prayer and refresh His soul. Showing us the importance of prayer. His message is summed up in "Mark 10;45. For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life for a ransom for many".
