Matthew - The Kings Speech

Matthew was one of the 12 Apostle's he was a Roman tax collector, despised by his fellow Jews. His name means "The gift of God" He wrote this Gospel of good news, so that the Jews might see that the Lord Jesus Christ is the promised Messiah, who came to save His people from their sins. He traces Jesus's genealogy from Abraham through to Joseph, and at least seven times he calls Jesus the son of David. Matthew Gospel looks on things from the standpoint of the Kingship of Christ, and is known as the Gospel of the Kingdom, the word Kingdom appearing 5 times. the other key word is fulfilled in reference to the prophecies of which There are about 60 references to prophecies about the Messiah the Christ and 40 other quotations from the Old Testament. He tells about Jesus's history from birth to resurrection, and Jesus commission the disciples to go and preach the Gospel, and the promise that Jesus will be with them always. We see Jesus Miracles and Parables and the Discourses. The one we will concentrate on is the "Sermon on The Mount" in which Jesus gave to His Disciples advice on how to live for Him. But at present we will leave the rest of Jesus's life having already dealt with them in the other series.
