Nahum was a prophet to the Southern Kingdom of Israel, His name means "Compassion" His message was against Nineveh, where over 100 years ago God had sent Jonah at that time when they hear gods message of Judgement, they but by God's grace they repented and where saved. But now they disregarded God, no longer repentant not trusted in God returned to their idolatry and old violent wicked ways, trusting in their seemingly impregnable city walls and great fighting powers. So, because of their unrighteousness God, was going to Destroy them avenging the wrongs done to God's people and bringing peace to God's people. Nahum came with God's message of doom, there was to be no hope of salvation for these unrepentant people this time. God is on the throne he ruleth on high, God's sovereignty is seen in his total control of all things, as foretold by Nahum the city was besieged and fell to the armies of the Babylonians and the Medes. For what God says will always come to pass, In God mercy judgement may be delayed, but don't think because judgement is delayed, you have got away with it, no sin is always punished. Nineveh's great wealth and strength of her walls and army will not save her, because of her sin she was overthrown according to God's Word. For God's enemies there is no hope. It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God. But for God's people there is hope, in Christ, for all who repent and trust in Him.

Nahum - Sin Must Always Be Punished.
